What a Mom Likes to Hear

WHAT A mother likes to hear about from the others on her precious child are:

“Your boy behaves well.”

“Your boy just told me that his MOTHER said that he SHOULD do [blah blah blah].”

When your son does not always listen to your warnings or admonitions but has his own mind about almost all of the things that he has to do or that you ask him to do (e.g., whether to have his meal first or to read a book first, how many episodes of the “Magic School Bus” that he can watch a day, what to wear going out), these are the precious sayings from other people’s mouths that do please you in your heart. You render that, at least, there is somebody out there who does think that–after all–he might have been but a good boy at heart.

That, somehow, the things that I teach him every day (whether or not he takes them seriously or not) do have an impact on him.
